MILITARY FILM REPORT: On battles in France and Mediterranean. Reel 1: Battle of France. French 2nd Armored Division departs Portland, England, for Normandy, Gen. Jacque-Philippe Le Clerc in command. French troops talk with civilians, and U.S. troops engage in street battles in Normandy and Coutances, of which there are battle destruction shots. Russian and British military observers at headquarters. St. Lo citizens greet U.S. troops. Germans captured in Granville taken to rear. Shows Abby Mon San Michael, Chateauneuf-de-Randon and shelled Villedieu-les-Poeles. Reel 3: Allied Fleet in Indian Ocean; Operations on Guam; Pisa Falls. (1) U.S., British and French convoys in Indian Ocean (2) 3rd Amphibious Corps troops attack village and pillbox and begin clean up operations in Guam. (3) 5th Army drives toward Pisa and Poggibonsi, 34th Infantry Division enters Pisa; destroyed buildings shown. Leghorn, Italy, retreating German troops destroyed docks, sunk ships and obstructed harbor entrance. U.S. and British salvage crews remove obstructions. Reel 4: Pre-invasion Films. At invasion embarkation point, Naples, cub planes, motor vehicles, supplies are loaded and troops board LST's, Gen. Alexander M. Patch, Jr., shown. Allied troop at rest and recreation and practice take off from LST and amphibious assault techniques.
